Broad stretches of wild countryside alternate with arid plateaux and wooded slopes. The area is overlooked by the Cheiron peak, at 1800 metres, affording an uninterrupted view down to the coast, from Toulon to the Italian border. This is the land of Saint-Auban, Aiglun, Riola and Gréolières gorges, of the Audibergue chasms and hill-top villages that live with the seasons of sheep-rearing.
