With 9.2 million tourists and nearly 70 million nights in the Alpes-Maritimes alone, tourism accounts for some 5 billion euros in turnover for the French Riviera. Almost half of all jobs (41%) in the Alpes-Maritimes depends to some extent on tourism.
Thanks to its exceptional tourist resources, the CRT Riviera Côte d’Azur is the essential promotional structure for the entire destination with all its products and partners, elected officials, institutional and professional players in the Alpes-Maritimes département.
Its mission is to establish operational links between outside markets and the French Riviera, relying in particular on the privileged relay provided by the Maison de la France worldwide network.
The prime player in marketing for tourism on the French Riviera on behalf of the Alpes-Maritimes département, the CRT is present in the French market and over twenty foreign markets in the context of its promotional missions and communication actions.
In connection with cities and professional players, the CRT each year greets several hundred prescribers, including journalists, tour operators, travel agents and various personalities.
At the end of 2002, the CRT also created the French Riviera Convention Bureau, an internal territorial marketing and promotional department dedicated to business and convention tourism.
Its mission is to provide partners with advice and assistance in the areas of tourist development and strategy for the territory. In particular, it ensures follow-up and analysis of tourist frequentation and the resources, organizes a wide range of studies in the sector of tourism on behalf of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes département, participates in existing and future contracts and projects, contributes to organizing thematic activities, and sets up and implements promotional, communication and marketing actions.
Its research and survey activity make the CRT the Tourism Observatory of the Alpes-Maritimes recognized by the WTO, of which it is a member, and a privileged partner of French national organizations (ONT, INSEE...). It serves as a reliable barometer of activity in tourism on the Riviera, both a statistical information-processing system and a strategic instrument for observation.
Furthermore, all CRT Riviera Côte d’Azur communication actions are based on a marketing approach involving active partnership with Cities and local professionals, the Region, the Département and institutional and economic organizations such as Team Côte d'Azur and the Chamber of commerce (CCI Nice Côte d’Azur).
The Chairman of the CRT Riviera-Côte d’Azur is Gaston FRANCO, General Councilman in the Alpes-Maritimes département. The Managing Director is Dominique CHARPENTIER.
