The riches and attractions of the Alpes d'Azur are many: they gather together in a sweeping embrace the seduction of meadowlands and forests, the majesty of high peaks, the charm of perched villages, the fascination of grandiose geological sites, not to mention a wealth of history and prehistory, whilst a mirror of blue unfurls at their feet, Such are the charms of the Alpes d’Azur.

The foothills of the Alps are more suited to the name "Alpes-Maritimes" than the Riviera or the Mercantour, thanks to the original combination of Mediterranean scents and Alpine flora, a mixture of pastures, scrubland and pine forest.

Parc National du Mercantour

One of France's 7 national parks. Almost 600 km of clearly marked trails enable you to discover rich and varied fauna (chamois, marmots, etc, not to mention wolves!) and a wide diversity of flora (almost half of the 4200 specied identified in France). Don't forget to admire the 30,000 cave paingings in the Valley of Marvels - a registered historical monument.
